Information We Collect

Account Information

When you sign up for smartenergyvibe, we collect basic information to create your account. This includes your name, email address, and phone number. We also collect your password, but it's encrypted immediately and we can't see it.

Financial Data

Since we're an expense tracking platform, we collect information about your transactions and spending patterns. This includes transaction amounts, categories, dates, and any notes or tags you add. We don't store your bank account passwords or credit card numbers on our servers.

If you connect a bank account through our third-party integration partners, they handle the authentication. We only receive read-only transaction data that you've approved.

Usage Information

We collect data about how you use smartenergyvibe. This includes which features you use most, how often you log in, and which pages you visit. We use this to improve the platform and fix bugs.

Technical Data: Your IP address, browser type, device information, and operating system are logged when you access our services. This helps us troubleshoot issues and keep the platform secure.

How We Use Your Information

We use your data for specific purposes, and we're upfront about what those are:

Your data is stored on secure servers in Taiwan and backed up regularly. We use industry-standard encryption both when your data is in transit and when it's stored on our servers.

We share your information with third parties only in these specific situations:

Service Providers

We work with companies that help us run smartenergyvibe. This includes hosting providers, email services, and analytics tools. These partners only get access to the data they need to do their job, and they're contractually required to keep it confidential.

Bank Integration Partners

If you connect your bank account, we use third-party services that specialize in secure financial data aggregation. They're certified and follow strict security standards. You can disconnect these integrations anytime from your account settings.

If smartenergyvibe is acquired by or merges with another company, your information would be transferred as part of that transaction. We'd notify you beforehand and you'd have the option to delete your account if you prefer.

Your Rights and Choices

Under Taiwan's Personal Data Protection Act, you have specific rights regarding your personal information. Here's what you can do:

Access Your Data

You can download a complete copy of your data anytime from your account settings. This includes all your transactions, categories, and account information in a readable format.

Correct Inaccurate Information

Found something wrong? You can edit most of your information directly in your account. For things you can't change yourself, contact our support team and we'll fix it within five business days.

Delete Your Account

You can delete your account at any time. When you do, we'll remove your personal information within 30 days. Some data might be retained for up to 90 days in backups, but it's deleted after that.

We keep some anonymized data for analytics and regulatory compliance. This data can't be traced back to you.

Object to Processing

You can ask us to stop processing certain types of your data. For example, if you don't want us to use your data for service improvements, let us know. Keep in mind this might limit some features.

Data Portability

Want to move to another expense tracking platform? We'll provide your data in a common format that other services can import. Usually takes about 48 hours to prepare.

Data Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. Once you delete your account, here's what happens:

  • Personal information is deleted within 30 days
  • Transaction data is removed from active systems within 45 days
  • Backup copies are purged within 90 days
  • Financial records required by Taiwan tax law are kept for seven years in an anonymized form

If your account is inactive for three years, we'll send you an email asking if you want to keep it. No response means we'll close the account and delete your data following the timeline above.

Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. Some cookies are essential for the platform to work. Others help us understand how people use smartenergyvibe.

Types of Cookies We Use

Essential Cookies: These keep you logged in and remember your settings. You can't disable these without breaking core functionality.

Analytics Cookies: These help us understand which features are useful and which ones need work. You can opt out of these in your account settings.

If you're accessing smartenergyvibe from outside Taiwan, your data will still be primarily stored and processed in Taiwan under Taiwan privacy laws.

Children's Privacy

smartenergyvibe is designed for adults managing their personal or household finances. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18 years old.

If you're a parent and discover your child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We update this privacy policy occasionally to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. When we make significant changes, we'll email you at least 30 days before they take effect.

Minor updates like clarifications or formatting changes might not trigger a notification, but the "Last Updated" date at the top will always reflect the most recent version.

Continuing to use smartenergyvibe after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.

Third-Party Services

smartenergyvibe might link to third-party websites or services. We're not responsible for their privacy practices. Before sharing any information with them, check their privacy policies.

When you connect a bank account or use an integration, you're also agreeing to that service's terms and privacy policy.
